Northeast Indiana | Due to physics and the rate of fall of seed through the seed tube, there is a max speed that you can plant without a negative effect on spacing and actual seed placement. The seed will bounce around a regular seed tube if running over 5mph. With a belt or brush that carries the seed all the way down to the exit, you aren't sacrificing placement with increased speed. Then you also have to take in account for row unit movement from increased speed, which will also negatively affect seed placement due to causing seed to bounce in a regular seed tube. Active hydraulic downforce and a high speed seed tubes really shine when speed is increased. At normal speeds, you're definitely going to see as much of an improvement vs the ground drive spring downforce standard planter. | |
