NCKS | Row clutches are a must. Active downforce in notill is going to payback if you cover enough acres. Just about any well maintained meter is going to get a good enough stand at the proper speed. I would argue that the proper speed is a little faster than it used to be.
Ground drive vs hydraulic drive to me is a productivity thing. Any ground drive I've ever been around takes a lot of idlers, a lot of chains. Hydraulic drive needs flushed once a year and you go. We have electric drive now, it's really nice. Might adds a little value in turn compensation, individual row rate etc, but to the point of the question it doesn't move the bar.
Row cleaners in notill. I've spent my whole life scewing with row cleaners. Trying to get a black strip without bulldozing. You end up actually needing to plant instead of screwing off and you end up with uneven stands due to uneven heat. For us, the air adjust yetters we got last year are probably the quickest payback out of anything. Yes, a meticulous guy with time on his hands can do just as good of job, but that's time I've never had. | |
