I agree that we've kicked this can down the road too many times. We've talked about it here for decades now. Rather fight for the status quo and grotesque waste, I think I'll let a guy that does big deals all the time try to work something out without going to war. Maybe he buys China and bankrupts it - a real media pleaser. Seems it was just a little while ago we were talking about our military response to China threatening to take Taiwan. I think there are other options.

We've been growing too much for a long time and I'm not sure Damian Mason is wrong when he suggest dwindling populations will be the reason for protectionism globally. In the mean time, a stable middle class is a good thing and policy should reflect that.
