E.Central MN | Actually UFC had acquired some small locations that were being spun off when the central counties merger with the coop south of them happened about 10 years ago. A lot of grain from that area goes to the UFC unit train facility, probably a lot of fertilizer from UFC's "condo" fertilizer storage facility goes to the other coop's fertilizer plants as well. There's usually a good reason why older grain facilities merge together, sometimes it's the only way to get the resources needed to maintain the facilities that we depend on to market our grain. Would farmers rather have their elevators just close up when the cost of maintenance makes them too unprofitable to compete with other locations? | |
