We cannot go back to a time where the US was the first(ish UK is probably truly the first) to feel the benefit’s of the Industrial Revolution. Nor can we go back to a time when 1/2 the world’s manufacturing capacity was destroyed so that the US was it when it comes to manufacturing. It’s no different than we can’t go back to a time where there was free land for the taking as long one developed it. Longing for something that can’t occur isn’t a good way to make policy.
The US is still wealthy. It’s not the trade deficit that is an issue. It’s just an easy scapegoat.

We’ve been the top dog.. with China floating our debt. Today.. you want a job.. you can get it. The problem is some don’t want to work but we are.. currently 95.8% employed.. (4.2% unemployed) nothing to sneeze at. A may not be a super job but many businesses have “help wanted” signs.
The thing which scares me is Navarro has conned Trump into starting a fight to end this.. We’re seeing capital exit the country as the dollar is falling and bonds are selling off. If this continues we’ll see what tough times looks like.
