S Illinois | We cannot go back to a time where the US was the first(ish UK is probably truly the first) to feel the benefit’s of the Industrial Revolution. Nor can we go back to a time when 1/2 the world’s manufacturing capacity was destroyed so that the US was it when it comes to manufacturing. It’s no different than we can’t go back to a time where there was free land for the taking as long one developed it. Longing for something that can’t occur isn’t a good way to make policy.
The US is still wealthy. It’s not the trade deficit that is an issue. It’s just an easy scapegoat. | |
