The thing is, this should have been obvious to anyone with some policy chops. It's not a secret where are bonds are held. It's not a secret that China wants Taiwan. It's not a secret that abandoning Ukraine emboldens China on Taiwan. It's not a secret Taiwan produces vital products for the U.S. and the World. None of this is a secret. Serious people have been sounding those alarms since the first Trump Presidency. It's why we got the CHIPS act. But none of that infrastructure is ready. We aren't playing a game at all. This was just monumentally short sighted.
