Malta, Illinois | First of all thank you for your perspective. We don't always agree but I respect your opinions. I have no idea where we are going with this. The reason we are supposedly doing this is to narrow or erase trade deficits. At least that is what we have been told. I suspect it is something much more than the that and it probably makes no sense. What strikes me the last few days is that many of our allies seem to be forging alliances with China and other countries to deal with the tariff world we now live it. They don't seem to be backing off on this even after Trump paused the tariffs on everyone but China. It is almost like the rest of the world no longer trusts anything we say and they are trying to make other arrangements. I have been of a mind that I am willing to give Trump a chance on this and other things but I am really starting to believe that this thing is going to spiral out of control quite quickly. With other countries strengthening their ties to China that in turn strengthens China's position in this standoff. I think Trump way overplayed his hand by slapping tariffs on the whole world instead of just China. The rest of the world no longer trusts us and probably won't anytime soon.
