Your experience is much the same as mine. Planting early here results in a poor stand and a likely replant situation. I plant corn first, usually starting around April 20-25th (have been as late as Mother’s Day) and then beans next, usually May 15th or so.

Planted beans in June once, dry as could be, and they ended up averaging 81, with lots of places over 100. After that I’ve never felt the need to plant early.

To many things beyond my control to say that doing something a specific way is always the best way.
