"Please, please, sir, make a deal. I'll do anything, sir" = "They warned us of countermeasures"
"This was driven by the president's strategy" = "There was no strategy"
"I saw last night where people were getting a little queasy" = "I was queasy"
The EU literally said: let him sweat. They saw the cracks. They waited him out.
And in the end? He folded. So much for “maximising leverage.”
Beyond the fake tough-guy act. This is who you want representing you? Someone who speaks and behaves like a sulking teenager?
It’s embarrassing. If he were the leader of a smaller country, we’d call it a banana republic.
