I should have said this works the same for LRP or puts.

Buying a lower strike price is only partially hedged as well but gives you little to no option to roll or hedge around the LRP. If you LRP less head at full price you can LRP more head later if the price goes up. Or down I guess if you get cold feet.

I still think the reward is in the risk. I was just pointing out a possible "better" option for being partially hedged.
