Quit trying to classify it as "coarse" or "fine" thread. Use an actual quantification instead. Metric will express thread pitch as distance between each thread crest and SAE usually expresses pitch as the number of crests per inch.
There are M20 bolts out there with 3 different thread pitches.
what tap do I need?
