people act like this is the first time the government has gotten involved to prop up farms you don't remember in the 80's when the biggest farms run the least efficiently got their land loans completely forgiven? and the rest, who pinched their pennies and were struggling to hang on, were given nothing?
You’re are semi correct on that. It had nothing to do with size though. Basically if you filed bankruptcy there was a way to keep the land. If you didn’t. You had to figure it out. Long run keeping the land was great. But in the short term that wasn’t saving the farm like MFP’s could, subsidize crop insurance, and so on. |
