What I've got so far is that tariffs are meant to bring manufacturing home. But almost all economists say that it will not work. That even if manufacturers started to trust Trump again and even if all required resources were available in the USA, the products would be so darn expensive that it would be unaffordable for most, in exchange for jobs that don't pay all that well.

So the plan is to throw it at the wall and see if it sticks anyway? I guess?
