I think Trump got to be the Republican nominee by the media circus on purpose in 2016
He gave them soooooo many clips of talking points and they thought he would be an easy candidate to lose to the chosen Hillary Clinton so the media put the camera on him 24/7
It backfired though
Kind of the opposite of what they did to Bernie Sanders. Like him or hate him he had the Democratic nomination pretty much sewed up and they shut his camera and mike off right before super Tuesday. Several other candidates with some momentum happened to bow out just days before super Tuesday as well to create the illusion the nominee was the one all the people wanted..........
