There’s this thing in wrestling called the heel. It’s somebody the crowd loves to hate but is still wildly popular. He takes the brunt of it so the other guy can look good.

Elon stands to benefit from tariffs. He sells his cars in the country he makes them.

I was listening to an npr segment about tariffs on pickup trucks. They said something like “50 years ago they put a tariffs on all foreign made pickup trucks, and it’s still there today”. 25% I think. Maybe that’s why we don’t see many foreign made pickups.

Anyway my point being, Trump is the heel. He knows it, but it’s part of Elons plan imo. Elon wants the tariffs but nobody wants to look like the bad guy.

But why would trump be willing to do that? Trump was really able to bolster his wealth with $Djt and I’m sure at some point he’ll sell. The company is vastly overvalued and experienced a short squeeze last year. I’m just making wild assumptions assumptions here but I suspect Elon was to thank for that short squeeze, not too mention helping him win the presidency, so trump owes him.

It’s easy to say “no more tariffs” when the tariffs you wanted are already in place
