I think every point you make is good and valid, but I don't know what you do with the hoarding aspect.  Most of my experience in that regard would be that those people can stand in the midst of the mess and refuse to acknowledge that it even exists, let alone desire to clean it up.



From experience, I agree with this statement 100%. Hoarding is like any other addicition, just like booze or drugs, until the hoarder wants to get better they will continue down the path of cluttering up their living space until it becomes unsafe. If you have an elederly partent or family member that hoards, no use trying to get them help at an adavanced age. Just be prepared for a lot of work when they pass.
Matches and diesel fuel would do the heavy lifting for me if I were tasked to clean up a hoarders mess. Excavator with thumb to finish the job. My experience is the house isn’t worth saving anyway.
