| I've never been around a bucket truck, but we've had several boom lifts and taken down probably 100 trees for ourselves and close friends/family. I don't think you'll get the height you need out of a bucket truck, they're build for power line work and we're in the land of 100' trees and grain legs.
Currently have an 80' boom lift, this isn't really enough to do significant work on a grain leg outside painting things or hanging lights/electrical on bins. Anything else you need a crane or can get to it off a ladder on the bin/leg. There is still money to be made doing that type of stuff and as we all know the safety rules stay pretty loose around the farm. Problem with a boom lift is transport.
I would guess residential tree work looks like a big money maker until you get an insurance quote or worse drop a limb on something expensive and you'll never get into the big bucks or make a name for yourself without the insurance and regulation. | |
