Western Ohio | My favorite is in that first pic. I believe it is a Stayrite 3000 maybe I cannot remember for sure. Mostly we run whatever 12v chargers we buy for a little of nothing at farm sales or at the local monthly hay auction where people bring in their stuff, they do not need any more. Most of the time we are simply charging a single strand of hot wire off set to a decent existing fence jus to remind the animals to leave things alone and serve as a trunk line so we can cross fence with step in post and poly braid. Really do not have too much junk hanging on the fence so does not ground out too bad at all from weeds.
The problems with this system are 2 and they are fairly simple to fix. First you have to make sure to put a regulator on your solar panel so you do not over charge your battery this is particularly a problem on the long summer days when the sun shines allot you can over charge the batter.
The second problem is late in the fall when we are still grazing into early winter there get to be so many cloudy days you really are not able to keep the car battery charged up to snuff. This is cured by just changing the car battery with a fully charged batter maybe every 10 days or 2 weeks depending on the length of fence being charged.
