Subject: RE: 3020 John Deere LP valve rockers oiling. Explanation!

Faunsdale, AL
Holes in rocker shaft that feed oil to the intake rockers are on the bottom of rocker shaft at about 5 o-clock while the ones that feed the exhaust rockers are on the top at about 11 o-clock if you’re looking from end of shaft.

Top holes are closest to the squirter hole that lets oil out into top channel of rocker to oil the valve stem and ball tip of the adjuster screw.

With a little wear between shaft and rocker, oil leaks out the top of the exhaust rockers through the squirter hole and around the shaft when valve is open more than the intakes.

I think they’re still going to oil plenty once it’s running. It’s been running for several decades like this, so I think it will be ok.
