Subject: RE: Dining alone at restaurants

Brandon, MS
If I'm on the road for work, then I definitely dine alone. Company is paying for the meal, so I'm headed to a decent restaurant. Don't drink alcohol, so don't really have to sit at the bar. I prefer a booth if there's one available. I'm usually on my phone while I'm eating, but I do try to actively engage the waitress.

What really irritates me is when I do this and the server seems to forget about me. I get that I'm a party of one and the other tables in their section have 4-6 people sitting at them, but I'm going to tip just as well as they are (or atleast I intended to when I went into the restaurant, work is paying after all). I prefer plenty of refills, might spring for dessert, etc. I don't mind being stuck in a corner at all, but if you just bring me my food and forget about me, then I'm going to forget about the size of the tip I had in mind.
