North Central Indiana | Tariffs are bad, but we’re putting tariffs on countries that already have them in place and in return they increase their current tariffs. So it must work for every other country… I think I see how the game works. As long as everyone else has higher tariffs on our products than we have on theirs, they come out ahead. Exactly as Trump is pointing out. No one is watching out for the US, but we have people that think we should be watching out for everyone else. The idea is the US as a whole has the economic strength to outlast every other country on earth in this giant staring contest. There will be personal pain for some for a little while, but Trump proved in the past he isn’t afraid to subsidize our own citizens in order to bring other countries to the negotiation table. And personally, I’d prefer to see $120 billion used to subsidize American citizens for 3 years rather than Ukraine as the last administration did. | |
