All Depends on the price and what your looking to do with it. Old Cats make good Farm Dozers, theyre tough machines but I wouldnt rely on one to run an excavating business with. You can still get alot of parts through caterpillar.

If you get the pony dialed in it will run and start a cold diesel fine, I had to rebuild the mag in mine and redo the carb when i bought it (parts from cat and ebay). whenever you run the pony and get the diesel started shut off the gas and run the carb dry. They like to fill the crank case and cylinders with gas. Keep a spare set of plugs handy too
