I bought a 17A years ago. First time I ran it i thought I was BIG STUFF! But that was because it replaced a 1934 three cylinder diesel RD6.

Those were great, simple, old crawlers. You could get a lot of work done in a day if you stayed in the seat running it. Slow and steady....slow and steady. They would idle down so low, you could almost count the revolutions.

There used to be companies that offered aftermarket electric direct starters to replace the pony motor. I was too poor, so i parked it on a hill in case the pony motor wouldn't start. Good memories.
