Sac & Story county IA
Corn does get clammy. Cold corn with just enough moisture migration in a bin to not flow good. Corn not out of condition at all but still moist on the surface. Pulls hard in an auger, too.

What is the air temperature when you start elevating? A hard lesson I learned is never ever elevate water with cold wind blowing on leg. Water will freeze in a pipe that is straight down. A person would think water falling fast enough would come down and out. No sir. It won't. A person can use buckets of hot water to thaw boot. But don't try it with under freezing temperature.
