| As a pecan, fruit and vegetable farmer, looks like it was a swing and a miss for us. Pecan market is in shambles due to mexico flooding us with tariff free pecans and looks like it will continue as ag products are exempt under USMCA.
So agian our cost of production will go up and we will be at an even more disadvantage to imported produce and Nuts. Looks like another step backwards to me.
Pecans cannot be grown for a profit right now. Cost of production is higher than the crop is worth. Has been trending that way since the tarriff placed on US pecans exporting to china in Trump's first term and trade war with China. Infact that alone killed 1/3 of our sales as a pecan crop as a whole for USA. And since then mexico has also flooded our market with imports.
Pecans sell wholesale off the farm for the same $ as they were in 1995, yet expenses are much higher than 1995.
