
| If the U.S. thinks that an industry is in the National Interest, then prioritize, and if necessary, subsidize that industry. That's what the CHIPS act did. It's a much more effective way to encourage industries that you want. The problem here is, we're trying to encourage industries that are GONE. They're not going to magically reappear. Canada said today, that if a manufacturer didn't have a national presence in their Car industry, then Canada wouldn't buy cars from that Manufacturer. So you force GM, Ford, and Dodge(whatever) to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. and then they lose the Canadian market? None of this is thought through in the least. All we've done is piss a bunch of countries off and teach them to find ways around us. |
