Middlesex County, Ontario | I aw your ad on marketplace. I don't think there is anything too wrong with your ad but there are a few things. I think you'll have a lot more interest in a few weeks. There's a lot of marketplace activity on good Friday long weekend, make sure to refresh your ad on the Thursday afternoon before.
You don't have a profile picture, you have 4 facebook friends, you have exactly 1 photo on facebook, you don't have any posts or comments on your wall, you've never liked anything. That's what scammer profiles have. You look the same as a scammer. Now I clicked on your name to find most of that out, which not everyone does, but you should at least add a profile picture (which will be seen by anyone looking at the ad).
Here's what I try to do in my ads.
- Lots of pictures. It doesn't take much extra effort to post 8 pictures instead of 1-3 pictures.
- Some of the pictures should show the entire machine. Back up and get the entire machine in the picture, include the drawbar.
- Facebook really pushes for videos. I don't know if a video boosts the listing at all, but a video of spinning and dumping would be good.
- Take the pictures on a sunny day. A happy background environment does something subliminal.
- Having the implement hooked up to a tractor does something subliminal too.
- I don't take pictures of where the machine is parked, in my pictures it's clear that the machine is where it is because it is posing for pictures.
- A paintgun with 50/50 diesel/hydraulic oil makes old iron look a lot nicer and better taken care of.
- I make sure everything is freshly greased, oil levels checked, etc.
- Cross post the ad to groups like 519 Farmers, 519 Tractor Buy Sell, Ontario Tractors and Equipment FOR SALE, local buy/sell group, etc
Good Friday Auctions do well too if you're just sick of it.
