Chinas weakness is that they don’t have a “blue water” navy. They have a lot of ships that can’t operate very far from a base and are heavily reliant on the world’s longest supply chain for oil and food. The truth is that once a few super cargo ships are sunk global shipping will stop because who in their right mind would insure let alone drive a huge indefensible target like a cargo ship.
If China starts a war the estimates are that 500,000,000 Chinese will be dead in a year from starvation because they aren’t able to feed themselves without food/feed/fertilizer imports.
As far as China being smart…. Yeah, Xi has killed so many people in power that nobody with brains is left. Remember when they had huge power outages in 2021? Xi knew nothing about it until a US diplomat asked him about it and he had no idea. Oh yeah, and they also have over a Billion empty apartments because that’s what they invested their money in instead of productive assets.
