east central iowa
I run a gerringhoff north star with the calmer rolls. also strip till manure between old rows. gerringhoff has some other options of there own such as rotodisc. and some new knife roll options. the one benefit of the calmers knife roll is it shreds the top of the stalk that is left standing and this means less tire damage. also takes less horsepower and less trash going through combine. if you use a lawn mower style chopper head then you have a hard top corn stalk stump that will cause tire damage that you won't like and so you'll need stalk stompers on every row. jmho
