With the responses I’m starting to think the ones I have may be half Hereford. Just out of a heavy pigmented bull. Gonna have to quit bad mouthing Herefords so much if that’s the case

Herefords have came a long way in 20 years.

Sure have. Problem is, it’s all been in the wrong direction.

A blind man can find the one Hereford in a herd. Just feel around for the prolapse.

A blind man can find the Angus too-only he just has to stand in one spot then he gets to ask God what happened.

At least a blind man can be around Herefords and be safe. A Hereford takes an awful lot to rile up. Angus snap on a dime, one minute acting like a big puppy, the next your under the pickup and the Angus cow is pushing the pickup sideways.

So what is your issue with Herefords aside from not being around any for 40.years? Any progressive breeder will have 99% of that bred out.

We did it in 20, we culled hard, kept track of bloodlines, and in the last 10 years we have only had 1-a heifer bred to the neighbors Angus bull that its EPDs were as far away from a heifer bull as possible. 150# calf out of a small heifer. Both survived.

Or is that your problem? Herefords require people to be progressive and care, aim for quality, use modern technology
and theories, instead of keeping everything that is black or red.
