Wisconsin | bbpowel - 3/29/2025 19:57 It has taken medical science 200 years to advance humans to the point where people are so healthy and living so long that they can deny that science and medicine is what got us here.
The video claimed all of that improvement for medicine, and hinted that it was vaccines mostly. Crediting science is a little easier to defend, after all, chemistry and agriculture are obviously science, you could easily make an argument that most morality is science also. I'd wager that vaccination has given us a several decade bump in health and longevity, dwarfed by the improvements in sanitation such as clean water and refrigeration, which in turn is dwarfed by improvements in living standards such as more and better clothing, food, and housing which are obviously "science" of textiles, crops and livestock, lime and wood, but not new science, just more of it. So my bet is 5% improvement from vaccines, 20% from sanitation, 70% from "more money".
I'd wager the vaccine bump is temporary, but the other two could be just as temporary I'm afraid. |
