We once had a combine and still have a tractor that the starting circuit (battery - ingition switch - starter solenoid) did not give enough current for starting.
The solution was to put a relay between starter + cable and solenoid and controll that with the original starting wire from the switch.
Another combine that we have now (German Claas) has that relay installed alredy in Harsewinkel.
If it starts with as jumper cable or screwdriver from the starter motor this could be your cheap fix. Make sure it's out of gear when trying!
But if you must turn the engine a little to get it startted then the startter is bad.
