SE North Dakota | What sucks about this whole project is it was leaking some oil out the top of the heads and in hindsight I should have just added some more oil to it and ran it and it probably would have sealed itself up once it warmed up but the bad thing is we had the dealer reseal the top head when we got the planter 4 years ago. It worked fine after that but now started seaping again which i think can be common on these but when the dealer had it apart he must have got wild with the electric impact when he put the new diaphragm on top of the piston because when I took it apart the nut on top of the piston took the threads off that stud so now I need a new piston. Guessing the nut was too tight and stretched the threads. Ugh. Now when I went to take the piston out I had to get the crank and that’s when I discovered this mess. The top of that seal area had been smashed. Either the pump had been dropped at one time or smacked pretty hard with a hammer to do that damage. A seal job just turned into a bigger project. I hate it when people take them little 3/8 impacts now and use them to tighten stuff like this up. They still have too much power for a 3/8 nut. | |
