Subject: Wheel Loader Selection for Feedyard

Currently we have a 1985 JD 644C rated at 162 HP with a 3yd bucket. It only gets used 1-2 hours a day. Seldom have more than 2000lb in the bucket. Never ask it to do much "hard work" like digging/pushing etc. Occasionally use it to pick up lime or fertilizer delivered in bulk off the ground.

Anyway looking to upgrade and was thinking a Case 621G seems to have similar specs but our current loader is definitely not operating at peak HP. I know anything will be a major upgrade over current one but curious what other folks are using in feedyards? Im considering a 521G which is 20hp smaller and 2.5yd bucket, but much cheaper. any chance I'll see a noticeable difference in the 2 for my current tasks? Just need to be able to get in and out of my commodity barn easily and lift high enough to dump into a roto-mix 620. Ill have to look dump heigh specs for 521, and will is miss the extra total weight? Ill post in stock talk if no traffic here, but lots more eyes in this section.

Also have deere and cat dealers close to me. are they markedly better loaders? any "must have" options for any of them? I see self leveling/return level buckets and quick latch see to be popular features. Ive never used any other loader than current one so not sure what current loaders feature. thanks!
