| My Dad had them on most of our tractors when I was a kid. I learned to hate them early. I was about 10 years old when I got the job of pushing dirt back into the tile trenches from tiling with the old style wheeled tiling machine (nice and wide trenches) with a narrow front end H Farmall on plowing. If you weren't extremely careful steering the narrow front end tires would catch while turning and they would turn sideways, spinning the steering wheel rapidly and that spinner knob would become a lethal weapon. I was a lot more cautious after it happened the first time. It's kinda surprising I didn't break some fingers. It was a wood spinner knob that was so wore the wood was loose and you could easily pinch your flesh in it also. | |
