Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Along the idea of wiring an ECU hot, I'm in the process of installing a Wilger Electronic Flow Monitor. This is a system where individual flow meters can be installed in a Wilger manifold or on top of Wilger columns if you have them. The flow meters are connected to 16Ch or 4 Ch Nodes which eventually lead to an ECU. The ECU makes its own WiFi connection with an Android tablet in the tractor. The app on the Android tablet shows a graphical representation of the bouncing balls. It give warnings etc. if there ae abnormal readings.

The ECU is mounted on the planter and transmits its information wirelessly to the Android tablet in the tractor. The ECU needs 12VDC power/ground. My plan is to tee it into the High Current Power that is already present back on the planter from my Ag Leader system. This means it will always be "hot" when the planter and Ag Leader wiring are connected.

I don't feel this will be a problem since we have a battery disconnect and will use it every night.

Yes, the three pin AMP connectors are expensive. When I worked as a Tech, we purchased them loose which was somewhat cheaper but still quite expensive. We got a quantity discount so that helped some.
