Subject: RE: PSA Wear Your Seatbelt

Faunsdale, AL
You just described the most common accident I see around here. Driver gets distracted, falls asleep or something and drives off the edge of the road or into the other lane. They realize or wake up and snatch the wheel to correct and roll the vehicle or it spins out.

I’ve tried to accustom all my kids to drive on the shoulder for a second before correcting. When I was teaching them to drive I would reach over and steer the car over onto the shoulder a little and not let them correct it for a minute while we discussed that it’s often times better to just hit what’s in front of you off the side of the road than to snatch it back and go into other lane and/or roll the vehicle.

And of course wear seat belts. Last local accident the driver was ejected from pickup after he left the road, over corrected, crossed the road and rolled the vehicle, finally hitting trees on other side. He lived several weeks before dying.
