Subject: RE: Pasture rent

Lone Wolf Ok
confusion is why I'm asking - nobody around her has any suggestions on what to charge.

My original thought was - I'm no longer in the cattle business (Father decided for me to cull all mine years ago) -- I inherited 2 x pastures with crappy fences. Neighbors have lots of cattle and needs pastures. So the thought I had - Let them deal with Hay/Vet/Fences/water/shredding (we have never fertilized) etc -- If I took 1 x calf/year as 'rent' -- I'm sharing the market up/down's (if/when I decided to sell)- let it turn into a cow and start having calves -- that would eventually give me a herd with $0 outlay - I could provide some hay support if in a crunch situation (they handle swath/bale).

That's why I'm asking here - advice on what other's do -

Thanks for the input
