Subject: Lighting for the new kitchen

Central ND
We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. The new layout will be a 12.5' by 14' L-shape, with a 42" by 60" island. The long side, starting from the end, will be refrigerator, 9" cabinet, stove, 2 - 30" cabinets, 36" corner cabinet for a total of 168". Then, after the corner cabinet, 36" sink base, dishwasher, 2 - 24" cabinets for a total of 150". We will place the island 42" out from each side. There is a 58" window centered over the sink. The entry door to the house from the garage will be right next to the fridge with a disc-light over it.

We know we need at least two lights on their own switch over the island, but how and how many would you arrange lights around the kitchen otherwise? We will have a 4' dual T8 fluorescent on it's own switch going back in directly over the window, behind a valance like we've always had, plus we plan on installing under cupboard lights that will be on their own switch. The lights we plan on installing for the kitchen itself will be the flush mount disc-lights.
