West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Time period was late 60s, I was very young, but I can remember taking cover behind the rear tire of the M Farmall with grandpa watching dad light the fuse and running for his life to take cover behind the rear tire of neighbor "Mitz" 60 John Deere after lighting the fuse while blowing rocks...too much dynamite was used and we blew that rock to smithereens and picked up rock fragments for a day. We still have the remains on one rock as a lawn ornament.
I also remember a couple neighbors blowing cattle watering ponds on the edge of slews with ditching dynamite. And I remember riding in neighbor "Mitz" car with grandpa to the hardware store in town to buy a literal trunk load of dynamite.
My daycare providers helped me develop some interesting core memories....the good ole days. |
