There will be updates of success or failures. I learn mostly from talking to people like you. You have stated mostly familiar information but some of your statements do stimulate thought.
Everything I am doing is not necessarily a solution and even my successes will not apply to everyone I am aware.
I just wonder if nature can still provide a living for anyone.
My thoughts on weeds. They show up when the earth is bare. My question is, for what purpose?? Is it just possible it is natures "cover crop"? it's free too! (my sense of humor may not appeal to everyone)
I have some land purchased in recent years that has been sprayed for weeds minimum of once a year for 20 years. Nothing was done on this 300 acres the 1st year because of the timing of the sale mostly. Full crop of weeds.
This happened on smaller acres earlier in my life. Same situation, same result. That was seeded into grass and has been in pasture for some years now. Cows are a wonderful weed control tool if they are exposed to early growth.
I cut and baled it and believe it or not the cows ate about half of it. I alternated good hay and bad hay and provided minerals. The condition on the cows stayed in very good condition. My cows are normally over conditioned because, well, so am I.
I have WAY more questions on forage crops than I have answers. Am hoping to have more answers before I die. Is it not the purpose in living..........to survive the best we know how?
Have not yet met the man who solved all his problems and now has no more reason to exist. I think the problem with human beings is that when they are not smart enough to work out solutions for themselves, they focus on solving other people's problems, and if they get stumped there they provide the problem and the solution for others to make their own lives appear useful.
I believe all issues have answers. Learning from books you are limited to the author's knowledge and exposed to only his conclusions. I prefer to learn from real experiences, my own or others. I am also interested in their conclusions but like to draw them for myself also.
Have a good day and thank you for playing with me.
