RR Valley, ND; MN native | Dad talked about there was a man (name was Elmer if I recall) in my hometown that would do the blasting of rocks and stumps for you. Got the dynamite from the hardware store. Grampa hired him on occasion for big rocks in the field they could not otherwise dig out. One story was he blasted this one rock 3 times and each time they piled up a stone boat of chunks but they never got all of it but eventually it was below the surface enough to not catch the plow anymore so they called it good enough.
I once saw posted somewhere the cover page of a similar booklet or pamphlet that was titled something like "Farming with Dynamite". They didn't include the inside but I assume it was about blasting rocks and stumps and ditch work, etc. | |
