My dad and grandpa used dyamite to reduce the size of rocks. Put some on top of a rock, cover with mud, set it off, you'd have smaller pieces to move. A couple of years ago, someone built a house where we blew just the top off the big old rock. They finished digging the remainder up, 60 years later. It was still the size of a car.
