nw NC | Who has the State Farm insurance, daughter or other driver or both? If both then SF has got to pay. Yes, insurance companies try to get by paying damages as cheaply as possible. They make an offer lower than value of vehicle hoping it will be accepted. In many cases that offer is accepted because the owner of the vehicle still has indebtedness on vehicle and is in need of transportation beyond the few days that a rental may be used. Owner should do research and find vehicles the same make, model, age, with similar mileage and provide said info showing prices to the ins. company. If anyone can wait out the ins. company offers, by all means do so.
My wife was hit by a driver with SF insurance in March '21, her car totaled. SF first offer was low. We refused it. I began internet searches for similar vehicles and sent to SF. They made another offer. I refused it. I sent them more vehicles info I found. They made another offer, again I refused it. They made another offer which was very close to being enough to purchase a new vehicle of same model ( one year later) , would cover vehicle, taxes and title costs. I accepted it. Took us over 8 months to get satisfaction but we got it.
We also waited out their offers for my wife's injury settlement. Took 14 months for that. | |
