Wisconsin | They'll split as they dry unless you do PEG like the wood turners use, but that's not practical. A good coat of oil will keep the water from soaking in the top, and if you can set it in oil occasionally, it will soak up from the bottom also, that's about as good as you'll get. White oak would last longer, I'm assuming that's red oak? Red oak will soak up the oil better and need it. White wouldn't soak it up, or need it. | |
