I seeded oats bought from feed store, not seed oats, on field cows wintered on. It’s been 2 weeks and nothing is coming up. I had some leftover and I’m doing a germination test, too early to tell. Question is, if the (feed) I bought is dead, is there any life in it for animals? We also soak shelled corn for feed and we are experiencing same thing. Is there any standard for feed grains that makes sure there is life in the seed?

Germ has nothing to do with nutrition. Oats sold as seed will have a germ done on it.
