I remember hearing somewhere about leaving phosphorus out of starter fertilizer. Something about overloading a young corn plant with P in the early V stages negatively effected it later. Any truth to this? It's kinda the opposite of what I was taught about never letting a corn plant have a bad day. But has me curious.

I quit using fertilizer as a starter. No yield response for me in multiple trials over multiple seasons. So I concentrated on root development instead. Healthy roots equal healthy plants. All I use now is my biological, humic/fulvic acid and an amino acid. Costs me $11.25 an acre. Here is a picture of a corn plant 14 days after planting.

Weird. I get a yield response. What is your yield goal?

My aphs run from 250 to 280 bu on corn
