How did the heifers handle the transition to fescue? Will need to add some females to my herd but was always told that cattle from out west had trouble transitioning.


They did great. No problems so far. We turned them out on some heavy stockpiled fescue for 90 days, with just mineral. Then fed at a bunk over winter, and now turned back out as pairs. Fat and happy.......


Heavy stock piled fescue would be the key for them holding up.

Washy spring fescue grass will be the test.

Cake them or a good supplement is key to western hard grass cattle brought to Misery.
