Missouri | We started planting our early beans this past week into a decent stand of rye behind corn stalks (60 lbs of rye harrowed in October-November). We're in central Missouri. Before I get hounded on the planting date, March soybeans are always my best yielders by a mile. The rye is still pretty small and has not hit vertical mode yet. I'd like to get the most bang for the buck in the rye biomass. I've also been reading about yield loss in delayed termination of the rye (albeit, the trials I've studied were shorter season beans planted in May in Iowa). I'd like to get some opinions of the seasoned cover crop guys on the optimum time for termination of early beans into small covers. Thanks
